On a cool September Saturday we met at the lovely home of Donna and Ron Nyght in Shawnee, KS.  Donna is a relatively new Heisey collector and has wisely chosen some great pieces that brought forth many 'oohs' and 'aahs'.  She also has vintage storewares from her father's business and other collections.  It's also appropriate to utter Rock Chalk Jayhawk when entering their home as they are Kansas University fans of the highest order.  A very interesting home tour for our attendees.

Donna and Ron treated us to a delicious Italian lunch after which President John Mock convened the meeting for our 17 members in attendance.  Trudy Mock and Jen Bragg were having health issues and not in attendance.  We missed them both.  Sadly, the death in early August of our long time member Sherrill Echternkamp was reported.  Our club made a donation to the HCA Endowment Fund in honor of Sherrill.  Our thoughts and sympathy are with his wife Lynn.

The previous meeting minutes and Treasurer's report were approved.

Our raffle box winner was lucky Bucky Will.  It was her first win and she took home some good Heisey loot from the raffle box donated by Chris and Lehi German.

Our program director and new HCA Board member Eric Tankesley-Clarke had a table full of great Heisey pieces for his program --”The 1910s: Unusual, hard-to-find, and rare patterns/pieces circa 1909-1922”.  The program was jam packed with information and examples that were unknown by even our veteran members.  We'll post the basic information on our website but to see it in person was golden.

Show & Tell produced some interesting finds – some were items purchased at the site of our last meeting in July -- the National Depression Glass Convention and Show: Jean - 4 Earnshaw syrups with different cuttings and Christine cream & sugar with cutting; Kelly – Ridgeleigh bridge set in original box with original label; Bucky - #400 Colonial spooner; Janet – Square on Round bowl; Chris – Octagon celery tray/H etching; Pat & Rex - #616 toy mug/souvenir/red flashed; Tom & Kathy – Morning Glory luncheon goblet/Moongleam foot and Paneled Octagon floral bowl with cutting and matching base/Hawthorne; Greg & Ande – Punty Band #2 bonbon and Puritan table sugar; Gregg and Mary – Oxford goblet with 'Eisenhower' cutting; Eric – Coarse Rib plate/5.5”/Canary and #338 Drape vase/10”/Crystal with cased transitional Canary.  Of course Eric's entire program table was a show & tell in itself.

A 50/50 auction was held with items donated by Pat & Rex and Janet (actually they donated 100% of the $80 proceeds to the club treasury).  Jean also donated proceeds from the sale of her always popular homemade jams and jellies – another $120.

Several members indicated their intent to attend the Percy & Vivian Moore event and Dave Spahr Fall auction in October.  Our November 12, 2022 meeting will be in Omaha, NE at the home of John and Trudy Mock.

President Mock adjourned the meeting for the pleasure of enjoying 3 cheesecakes made by hostess Donna and Bucky – served on Heisey cake salvers.  Thanks to our hosts, Donna & Ron, for a venue of great comfort and many lovely examples of Heisey to view.
