Minutes

March 15, 2025

The Great Plains Heisey Club had their first meeting for 2025. Seventeen members gathered in Shawnee, Kansas at the home of Ron and Donna Nyght. Ron and Donna prepared a delicious lunch and the hat was passed for our Great Plains Treasury.

March is when we elect our officers for 2025. Donna Nyght will be president, Tom Files will be treasurer, and Mary Cameron will be secretary.

We celebrated John Mock for his 17 years as president of the club. John celebrated that he was no longer president.

We approved the minutes of the November 9 meeting. The minutes are posted on the Great Plains Heisey Club website. The treasurer’s report was approved as presented by Tom.

Mary discussed setting up a Gmail account for the club. The club voted to approve this and Mary will get it set up and share documentation with Donna and Tom.

Donna is the new HCA Auction Committee chair so she gave an update about the HCA auctions. There are many members planning on attending in April.

Convention was discussed next and a number of members are planning on attending. More discussion will be held at the May meeting regarding the Great Plains Club’s participation.

A robust discussion was held about the proposed constitution and bylaws changes. Mary will send in club comments to the ad hoc committee. Members were also encouraged to send individual comments.

Donna asked if anyone was interested in running for the HCA Board and there was no interest from club members.

There was no board update as Eric could not attend the meeting.

Donna reported on the President’s Council meeting she attended. She thought it was a good meeting and hoped that these meetings would happen more often.

Tom gave an update on membership for 2025. We have eleven fewer members that last year.

The members voted to send $100 to the endowment in honor of long-time member, Bill Hagerty, who passed away recently.

Our March program, was audience participation time! Members were asked to bring a few things associated with the month of March. The program table was full of all things green. Items included: No. 3390 Carcassonne Flagon with Moongleam base, No. 500 Octagon Basket in Moongleam with a cutting, No. 516-2 Vase in Moongleam, No. 417 Double Rib and Panel Basket in Moongleam, No. 1251 Twist Tumbler in Moongleam and many more items. In addition to Moongleam items, we also had items that reminded us that March comes in like a lion, but goes out like a lamb. Items were: No. 1401 Lion’s Head Shallow Floral Bowl in Moongleam Flamingo and Sahara. Also, Tom Files read a spring story featuring floral items including: No. 4091 Kimberly Footed Soda with Dolly Madison Rose cutting, No. 3373 Morning Glory Luncheon Goblet, No. 3476 Temple Handled Ice Tea with Trellis cutting, No. 6004 Classic Goblet with Spring Cutting and many more.

The meeting adjourned for dessert.
