The Great Plains Heisey Club
From the Great Plains of Kansas to the Northwoods of Minnesota, the Great Plains Heisey Club members were on the road again for their July 13, 2024 meeting.
Bob and Bev Heise hosted members from the Great Plains Heisey Club, members from the Northwoods Heisey Club and some guests at their lovely new home. Twenty-six Heisey collectors were treated to a delicious lunch served in the Applewood Bloomington meeting room. The large room provided room for the lunch and for meeting space. There were many tables for the program, show and tell, and the club auction.
President, John Mock, welcomed everyone and we passed the hat for lunch with the proceeds going to the Heises.
The minutes of the May 11th meeting and the treasurer’s report were approved. John gave a medical update on several of our members.
Eric gave a HCA Board of Directors report and members discussed the recent HCA Annual Convention. Fewer members attended from the Great Plains Club than in the past. John also reviewed the results of the constitution and by-law proposals that were voted on at convention.
Both John and Eric recognized the Great Plains members that are going to serve on HCA committees this year and invited others to participate on committees also. If anyone is interested, they should contact HCA President David Eric Blair.
John also mentioned that HCA President, David Eric Blair, will be convening a Presidents’ Council made up of the presidents of HCA study clubs.
There was no Martha’s Moment or raffle box.
Eric gave the program on cuttings. The table was full of fabulous cuttings from his collection and the Heise collection as well as others members brought. There was an ID table also for members that brought unknown cuttings.
Show and Tell items included 404 Joshua nappy, 1464 Drape goblet, 8170 Baltic soda, 341 Puritan ashtray with Lily carving, 300 Peerless water pitcher, 3389 Duquesne cordial with an unknown cutting and a Flamingo pumpkin purchased at the convention banquet.
A lively 50/50 auction was held and the meeting was adjourned for dessert.
Our next meeting will be September 14, in Ankeny, Iowa at the home of Gregg and Mary Cameron.
