Such a joy to meet for the first time in 2024 at the lovely home of Donna and Ron Nyght in Shawnee, KS.  Following a delicious BBQ lunch, our 21 attendees settled down for our meeting.  President John Mock welcomed our newest members, Ann and Dennis Hall, from Topeka, KS.  The secretary's report was approved and a treasury update was given.  The treasurer collected dues and finalized our 2024 member listing that will be submitted to HCA.

Our current officers were elected to serve another year plus Eric Tankesley-Clarke will continue as Program Director and Jennie Bragg retains her position as raffle box coordinator.

Several of our members plan to attend the Spring Auction in Newark and will help with the work involved for a successful event.  Convention plans were discussed also.

Trudy Mock used her “Martha's Moment” to show how Scrabble tiles can be used in our Heisey displays.  Spelling out a pattern or dealer name or other phrases can easily be done with the tiles and looks very chic.

The raffle was won by Bucky Will – a first for her even though she's a regular big ticket buyer.

Eric's program based on new finds from his extensive research times in the Heisey museum archives was sensational!  There were mold drawings we had not seen and rubbings from previously unpublished etchings.  Examples filled half of a pool table and Eric led us through his wonderful hand-out.  Thank you, Eric, for sharing your studies and conclusions and giving us some mysteries to think about.

Show and Tell was extensive based on members' winter finds:  Ann and Dennis, Duck ashtray/Moongleam; Trudy and John, Empress #135 floral bowl/Sahara; Ryon and James, Empress #1401 floral bowl/Sahara; Donna, Pineapple & Fan vase/Vaseline with Opalescent rim; Eric, Plateau jug/Flamingo and Flat Panel cigar jar/Moongleam; Bucky, Bull/H and Puritan cake salver; Janet, Punty & Diamond Point punch bowl; Kathy & Tom, Fairacre wine/Cleopatra etching; Chris and Lehi, Fairacre footed & handled ice teas/Moongleam stem & foot; Jean, Aqua Caliente/Tally Ho etching.

A spirited 50/50 auction of donated pieces was held.  The top sellers were a pair of Ridgeleigh candlevases in Sahara donated by Pat & Rex.  And Jean's jams & jellies are always smash-hits.

It was announced our next meeting will be in Lindsborg, KS on May 11.

Adjournment sent us all to enjoy Donna's desserts.  Lucky us!  Donna loves to bake and we were convinced she's very skilled with cakes, cookies, and dessert bars.  Thank you, Donna and Ron for hosting and making a special day for our Great Plains club meeting.  It was a good day at the Nyghts.
