The Great Plains Heisey Club met in Leavenworth, Kansas on July 11. The meeting was hosted by Jean Will, Bucky Will, Tom Files and Janet Jones. Thank you very much for hosting. Sixteen members attended.
A big thank you to Jennifer and Kelly for taking the minutes for this meeting.
The meeting was called to order by President Donna Nyght. The hat was passed for lunch and the hosts graciously donated the proceeds to the club treasury.
The minutes of the May 16th meeting were approved. The minutes and the pictures from the meeting are posted on the Great Plains Heisey Club Website.
Tom Files gave the treasurer’s report. The club donated $3,000 at the annual HCA Convention. Mary had asked Tom if he could look back at records to see how much the club has donated to HCA since the club started in October of 1999. Tom reported that the club donations had totaled $101,226. This does not include donations that individual club members have made to HCA.
Eric, Donna and Bucky gave an auction report. The fall auctions will remain the same with online and in-person. The spring auctions will be online only. The auctions require a lot of volunteer time. The club thanked these members for volunteering.

Bucky and Eric gave a HCA Board report. The warehouse where the Heisey molds are stored is in need of some repairs. So the board is gathering bids to complete this work. Funds were needed to complete the landscaping project in the courtyard, so funds were shifted from the designated money for bathroom repairs in the King House.
The club continued the discussion regarding future club meetings. It was suggested that the March and November meetings be moved to Zoom calls. This discussion will continue at future club meetings. We have fewer hosts than we have had in the past.
Members reported that the convention this year was well organized and well attended. The factory tour was very popular. The convention itself made more money than was anticipated. Everyone thought the return of multiple seminars was very much appreciated and rooms were full. The presentations were very well done.
The program for the meeting was Eric's seminar that he did at convention entitled “Heisey’s Adventures into Bent Glass and Other Mid-Century Styles.” It was very informative and full of great information.
There was a little 50/50 auction followed by Show and Tell.
Show and Tell was quite extensive and a few of the items shared were: No. 5027 Amsterdam goblet with No. 890 Churchhill cutting and a monogram, No. 1180 Debra cream and sugar with a blue and black stain, No. 3365 Ramshorn goblet with a Newton Watts cutting, No. 1306 Comet Leaf Goblet, No. 2401 Oakwood soda with No. 9024 Santa Fe etch and one of the Comet Leaf ice teas by Mosser with the Amberina base.
The next meeting will be hosted by Gregg and Mary Cameron in Ankeny, IA on September 12th.
