Minutes

March 14, 2026

The Great Plains Heisey Club held their first meeting of 2026 at the home of Ron and Donna Nyght. Because we were in Kansas City, we enjoyed a great Kansas City barbeque lunch.  Fourteen members had a lot to catch up on with each other as the club does not meet during the winter months. Ron and Donna graciously donated the lunch proceeds to the club.

Donna called the meeting to order and the minutes from the November meeting were approved.  Thanks goes to Jennifer for taking the minutes. Tom gave the treasurer’s report and reminded the group that at our May meeting we will be discussing a donation to HCA.

Bucky and Donna gave an auction update for the April HCA auctions. Pictures are on the HiBid website. Club members thanked them for their volunteer hours for the HCA auctions. It is a big commitment.

Bucky gave a HCA Board update. There is a new employee serving as Collection Manager.  Bucky will ask the staff to give members more information about what the job responsibilities are of that position. Members asked about the status of the new HCA website. Bucky reported that the HVAC in the archives is being replaced.

The National Depression Club is having their convention in Kansas City on June 6 and 7.  In the past, the Great Plains Club has represented HCA with an information table. Bucky, Janet, Jennifer, John, Trudy and Ande will see if this can be coordinated again.

Current officers of the Great Plains Heisey Club were reelected to those positions.

Mary shared the email she received from the Convention Committee regarding volunteer opportunities and opportunities to donate to various events.

Since we were meeting in March, we had a member led program on Moongleam and Emerald.  All members brought items to share and we did not have any duplications. A few of the items shared were No. 1295 Beaded Swag Salt and Pepper Shakers in Emerald, No. 7043 Panel and Diamond Point Goblet in Moongleam, No. 1255 Pineapple and Fan Rose Bowl in Emerald, No. 3373 Morning Glory Luncheon Goblet in Moongleam, No. 137 Concave Circle Candlesticks in Moongleam and many more items.

Because the club hadn’t met over the winter, there were many winter finds to share.  Items included No. 1445 Grape Cluster Two-light Candlesticks with No. 781 St. Anne Cutting, No. 1464 Drape Goblet, No. 1540 Lariat Round Deviled Egg Plate, No. 433 Greek Key Jug and so much more.

Before enjoying desserts of Key Lime and Cherry Cheesecakes, there was a lively 50-50 auction.

Our next meeting is May 16 in Omaha at the home of John and Trudy Mock.
