Jean Will - Leavenworth, Kansas

HCA Board of Directors, 2005-2008

Jean Will

Jean was born and raised in Leavenworth, Kansas. She married John Will in 1951 after completing Nursing School in Kansas City, Kansas. Jean and John raised nine children.

They started buying depression glass in about 1970. They became interested in Heisey glass after realizing Jean's brother-in-law Buck Elliot was a great-great-grandson of Carolina Heisey Grazer (sister to Augustus Heisey). Buck remembered receiving barrels of glass in the 20' and 30's from an uncle who worked at the Heisey factory in Newark.

In 1986, John and Jean started doing antique shows in the greater Kansas City area and four state region. They started doing the show at Granville in 1989 and always looked forward to their trip to Newark every year. Jean switched to the show at O.S.U. in 2004 and was elected to the H.C.A. Board of Directors at that time.

Jean enjoys serving on the Board of Directors and wants to help make HCA become more financially stable and make more people aware of the joys of collecting Heisey glass. She is the vision behind the Great Plains Heisey Club hosting the Percy & Vivian Moore (PVM) dinner in 2006.

The Great Plains Heisey Club was founded in October, 1999 and Jean and her daughter Bucky are charter members. John Will died in 2003, but Jean has continued to do antique shows with the help of family members. Jean's favorite pastime is searching for more Heisey glass.

Way to go Jean, GPHC is proud to have you as a member!
